How to Measure your Apparel?

Measuring T-Shirts

T-Shirts are measured on a flat work station with the front of the garment facing up. The garment is measured in a relaxed state.

Body Width

The body width is measured approximately 1 inches below the armhole point across the garment from edge to edge.

Body Length

The body length is measured in a straight line from the highest point of the shoulder at the join of the collar to the bottom opening.

Armhole

The armhole is measured point to point in a straight line from the set-sleeve seam highest point to the bottom point of the armhole.

Shoulder

The shoulder is measured from the set-sleeve seam to the intersection of the collar to the body.

Sleeve Length

The sleeve length is measured from the center back to the sleeve opening.

Sleeve Opening

The sleeve opening is measured along the open edge.

Neck Opening

The neck opening is measured by grasping the collar at the front and back center aligning the shoulder seams and laying the garment flat with the neck seam aligned from front to back. Measure across the straightened edge of the collar by resting the collar edge against the edge of the ruler. This measurement is doubled.

Collar Width

The collar width is measured from the collarette seam to the outer edge of the collarette.

Measuring Shorts

Fleece shorts with or without pockets are measured on a flat work station with the front of the garment facing up. The garment is measured in a relaxed state.

Waist

The waist is measured by aligning the top edges of the elastic front to back with the end of the ruler inside the waist, measure inside to inside and double.

Total Rise

The total rise is measured in a straight line from the top edge of the waist to the inseam. This dimension is doubled.

Inseam

The inseam is measured from the inseam to the bottom opening.

Outseam

The outseam is measured from the top edge of the waist to the bottom edge of the hemmed leg.

Seat Width

The seat width is measured by aligning the top edge of the elastic front to back, folding the top edge down to the inseam. Measure across the fold from edge to edge along the fold of the garment.

Leg Opening

The leg opening is measured by aligning the front and back hem and measuring across the bottom.

Pocket Opening

The pocket opening is measured with the end of the ruler inside the pocket welt. Measure in a straight line across the opening from edge to edge.

Measuring Fleece Shirts with Set-In Sleeve

The Fleece Shirt with set-in sleeves is measured on a flat work station with the front of the garment facing up. The garment is measured in a relaxed state.

Body Width

The body width is measured approximately 1 inches below the armhole point across the garment from edge to edge.

Body Length

The body length is measured in a straight line from the highest point of the shoulder at the join of the collar to the bottom opening.

Armhole

The armhole is measured point to point in a straight line from the set-sleeve seam highest point to the bottom point of the armhole.

Shoulder

The shoulder is measured from the set-sleeve seam to the intersection of the collar to the body.

Sleeve Length

The sleeve length is measured from the center back to the cuff opening.

Band Width

The band width is measured from the band bottom seam down to the outer edge opening.

Cuff Opening

The cuff opening is measured from edge to edge with the end of the ruler inside the cuff. This measurement is doubled.

Cuff Length

The cuff length is measured from the cuff/sleeve join seam to the opening of the cuff.

Measuring Fleece Pants

Fleece Pants with or without pockets are measured on a flat work station with the front of the garment facing up. The garment is measured in a relaxed state.

Waist

The waist is measured by aligning the top edges of the elastic front to back with the end of the ruler inside the waist, measure inside to inside and double.

Total Rise

The total rise is measured in a straight line from the top edge of the waist to the inseam. This dimension is doubled.

Inseam

The inseam is measured from the bottom edge of the leg opening to the intersection end of the ruler inside the waist. Measure inside to inside and double.

Outseam

The outseam is measured from the top edge of the waist to the bottom edge of the cuff.

Thigh

The thigh is measured approximately one inch below the inseam point across the leg from edge to edge.

Leg Opening

The leg opening is measured across the opening, inside edge to edge and doubled.

Seat Width

The seat width is measured by aligning the top edge of the elastic front to back, folding the edge of the elastic down to the inseam. The seat width is measured from edge to edge along the fold of the garment.

Pocket Opening

The pocket opening is measured with the end of the ruler inside the pocket welt. Measure in a straight line across the opening from edge to edge.
